Schubert composed these six short pieces between 1823 and 1828. The No. 3, one of Schubert's most popular piece, was first recorded in 1823 in a Christmas album under the title Russian Air. The success of this collection offered the publisher the opportunity to publish a second volume the following year. The latter included the Moment musical No. 6 under the title The Complaints of a troubadour. The complete collection of Moments musical Op. 94 will appear later at Leidersorf in 1828 in Vienna. This publication is based on the Breitkopf & Härtel edition, 1884.
