This unfinished Mozart’s work is nevertheless one of the most famous piano piece of the composer. Even her sister has long ignored her existence and was greatly surprised when she discovered the publication. The Fantasia in D minor was probably composed around 1782 and then published for the first time as a fragment as a posthumous work in 1804 (Vienna, Bureau of Arts and Industry). The latest measurements come from the Breitkopf & Härtel edition of 1806. They were added by the publisher in default of the complete manuscript, still unknown to date. This edition has been carefully created from the original sources of the work and includes the final part often played today.
